Privacy statement
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This statement explains what data Speurtocht Plus (also known as Scavenger Hunt Plus) processes, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short: we collect as little as we can. See also the terms and conditions.
1. Who is responsible
SEGIT is responsible for the data described in this statement, including players' data.
- Provider
- SEGIT (sole proprietorship)
- Trade names
- Speurtocht Plus, Scavenger Hunt Plus
- Chamber of Commerce number
- 67737978
- VAT number
- NL002192511B87
- Address
- Fuut 19, 9781 ZG Bedum, the Netherlands
- contact@speurtochtplus.nl / contact@segit.nl
2. What data we process
When you play
- An anonymous account on your device (a random number in a cookie). There is no email address or password.
- A name or team name, if you enter one yourself. You do not have to.
- Your seat in a hunt.
- Your progress: which points you reached, which answers you chose, and when.
Your location stays on your device. The app uses your device's GPS and compass to see whether you are at a point. We do not send that data to our servers.
When you make a hunt
- Your email address, to log in.
- The hunts you make: titles, texts, points, questions and answers.
- Your settings, such as language and theme.
- If you pay: what you bought (the hunt, the number of seats and the amount), when, the payment reference at Paddle, and the moment you agreed to immediate delivery. We also keep the state of your hunt as it was when you pressed Pay for a short time, until the payment has come in and the hunt is online. We do not receive your payment details; Paddle processes those.
When you visit the site
- A few technical details, such as your IP address, in our hosting provider's logs.
- Anonymous usage and errors through PostHog: which page you view (without play code or ids), your browser, operating system and language, the app version, and whether a player started or finished a hunt. Error messages are cleaned up before sending, so they contain no names or email addresses.
3. Why, and on what basis
| Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|
| Letting you play a hunt and keeping your progress | Legitimate interest: making the hunt a maker organizes work |
| Showing your name to the maker | Your consent: you enter it yourself, voluntarily |
| Giving makers insight into how their hunt is played | Legitimate interest |
| Enforcing the limit of seats | Legitimate interest |
| An account for makers, payments and administration | Performance of the contract and legal obligation |
| Finding errors, securing and improving the service | Legitimate interest |
We do not use data for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not build profiles from it.
4. What a maker sees
A maker sees the players of their own hunt: the name they entered (or a number, if they did not enter one), how far they are, which answers they gave and how often each question was answered correctly. A maker never sees data of players of someone else's hunt, and may only use this data for their own hunt.
5. Cookies and storage on your device
We only use what is needed to make the service work. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and so no cookie banner.
- Language cookie: remembers your language choice.
- Login session: keeps you logged in, or recognizes your anonymous account as a player.
- Theme and preferences: light or dark, whether the compass was on, and the name you entered.
- Your seats and hunts: a copy of the hunt and your progress on your device, so the app also works without reception.
- Stored files of the app (a service worker), so the player app starts offline.
PostHog uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
6. Who we share data with
We only share data with parties that need it to provide the service:
| Party | For | What they see |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, login and sending login links | All data in this statement that we store. The database is in Ireland (EU). |
| Vercel | Hosting the site | Requests to the site, with IP address. The servers are in Frankfurt (EU). |
| PostHog | Errors and anonymous usage | Only what chapter 2 lists, without cookies. Storage is in the EU. |
| Paddle | Payments, VAT and invoices | The maker's data at a payment. Paddle is itself responsible for this. |
| OpenFreeMap | The map in the screen where makers create hunts | The maker's IP address, when the map loads. |
Some of these parties are, or belong to, a US company. Where data can therefore be accessed outside the EU, this happens with appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
7. How long we keep data
- Players' data is kept as long as the hunt exists, because the maker needs it to see how the hunt was played. It disappears when the maker deletes the hunt or the player has their account deleted.
- Makers' data is kept as long as the account exists.
- Payments and invoices are kept by us and by Paddle for as long as the law requires, in the Netherlands seven years. If you delete your account or your hunt, the purchase is kept for the accounts, but no longer linked to you or to the hunt.
- Logs of our hosting provider and of PostHog are kept by them under their own policy.
- Backups: deleted data can remain in a backup for a limited time.
8. Children
Many players are children, for example at a children's party or at school. A player does not need to create an account or give an email address. A name is not required: we recommend using only a first name or a team name. The maker is responsible for supervision and for making sure parents or carers know their child is taking part. Is your child under 16 and do you want us to delete data? Please contact us.
9. Your rights
You can ask us which data we have about you, have it corrected, deleted or restricted, object to it, or take it to another party. Email us at contact@speurtochtplus.nl. We reply within a month.
- Makers email us from the address they log in with. Then we know it is your account.
- Players have no email address, so we can only find you if you tell us the hunt or play code, the name you entered and roughly when you played. A button in Settings that lets you delete your account yourself is in preparation.
Do you disagree with how we handle your data? You can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
10. Security
The connection to the site is encrypted. The database has access rules so that a maker only sees their own hunts and the players of those. Access to the systems is limited to those who need it.
11. Changes
We change this statement when the service changes, and then put the date of the last change at the top. For an important change we tell makers by email.
